Project Summary:

  • Type of Project: New location

Company Need:

Located in Nevada, Walkenhorst’s has experienced steady growth over the last few years, significantly increasing the need for additional distribution capacity. The coronavirus pandemic also played a part in the company’s growth by increasing demands for shipped retail goods among prison populations.

Since its existing operations are in its home state, Walkenhorst’s identified the need for a location closer to its clients in the Midwest and the east coast to cut shipping times.

Testimonial:

“We are excited about opening a new distribution center closer to many of our high-growth areas. Ultimately, getting our products closer to our customers will allow us to offer faster ship times and provide better customer service.” – Josh Walkenhorst, president, Walkenhorst’s

Why Ohio?

Walkenhorst’s plans to establish a logistics and distribution operation in West Chester Township, near Cincinnati. Walkenhorst’s considered several other locations but Ohio’s proximity to customers and competitive costs were an advantage.

Ohio recognized for its location and infrastructure and the advantages they offer logistics companies. The state is a well-established base for companies moving goods around the globe being just a one-day drive from more than 60 percent of U.S. and Canadian populations including major cities including Chicago, New York City, and Toronto, among other coastal cities.

With its new operation in West Chester, Walkenhorst’s will be able to serve more clients with faster service and alleviate the additional capacity on its other facilities. This will be the company’s first location east of the Mississippi river.
