Midmark Corporation, a leading provider in health care solutions technology, is opening a new research and development (R&D) center that will create at least 97 new jobs by 2022. The R&D tech center will be located in Versailles, near Dayton.

“The new R&D center will bring our product development teammates into close proximity in a space that will offer the tools and resources needed to create cutting-edge solutions for our health care customers,” said John Baumann, president and CEO of Midmark.

Midmark is investing more than $40 million in the state-of-the-art facility, with over $20 million dedicated to machinery and equipment. JobsOhio has committed $5 million toward the company’s investment from its R&D Center Grant program to support the project.

“Midmark is grateful for the tremendous support from JobsOhio,” said Baumann. “This grant will allow us to create the facilities we need to carry us well into the future and continue to bring innovation to the state of Ohio.”

“The JobsOhio R&D Center Grant program was established to help advance innovation and spur new jobs and strategic opportunities for R&D commercialization,” said Aaron Pitts, JobsOhio senior managing director for healthcare.

With the new R&D center, associates at Midmark will have the capability to identify and launch solutions that improve outcomes and experiences at a lower cost to patients. A customer-focused design and training center will also be created within the facility for interactive learning experiences.

In collaboration with the Dayton Development Coalition, JobsOhio was able to help Midmark solidify construction plans for the new R&D center to aid the company in achieving its vision, mission and strategy. This is now the single largest capital project in the 102-year history of the company, enabling Midmark to more quickly and effectively develop new technologies that service customers and minimize challenges for health care providers.

Midmark was founded in 1915 and has nearly 1,700 associates from around the world dedicated to making a positive difference in health care. Headquartered in Dayton, its production, administrative offices and now R&D center are in Versailles. Midmark developed Midmark Clinical Solutions, a foundational tool to enhance the patient-caregiver experience.

In 2016, Midmark acquired Versus, a company providing the most deployed, real-time locating systems in health care, utilizing location technology and rules-based automation for efficiency improvement.
