Company Need:

Hendrickson has plants in Northeast Ohio, both in Hebron and Canton. The company’s Canton location specializes in trailer commercial vehicle systems. Driven by strong customer demand, Hendrickson considered establishing a new manufacturing location.

Within this new plant, Hendrickson will manufacture truck axles. This entails metal cutting, forming, welding, painting and final assembly of its product.

Why Ohio?

Hendrickson will invest $50.6 million in a new truck axle plant that will employ 300. As part of its new plant expansion, Hendrickson committed to retaining its 235 employees at its testing facility on Industrial Place Southeast in the city.

Hendrickson’s growth will have a ripple effect in Stark County. Hendrickson is a supplier for one of Stark County’s larger industrial companies, Alliance-based MAC Trailer. According to Ray Hexamer, president of Stark Economic Development Board, “This project not only helped an important local company to grow, it also strengthened the supply chain for another company in Stark County.”

Hendrickson will be able to continue taking advantage of Ohio’s robust and skilled manufacturing workforce, the third largest in the U.S. All parts of the manufacturing value chain are represented in Ohio, from suppliers and customers to academic and industry partners.  In Ohio, manufacturers have the strategic benefit of a comprehensive infrastructure and a central location that’s within a day’s drive to over half of the U.S. and Canadian populations.
