Fast-Growing Fintech Company Matic Expands in Columbus

Digital insurance agency confident in region's resources to advance fintech growth

Fintech company Matic, a technology-driven insurance agency, is expanding in Columbus. Matic uses its technology to better integrate lenders and loan officers, simplifying the homeowners’ insurance process. The company is investing $400,000 and committing 50 new jobs, including operational and back-office professionals.

Matic has grown rapidly since its start in 2014, delivering the most trusted and affordable insurance policies available thanks to its partnerships with a diverse network of insurance carriers. A licensed insurance agent in all 50 states, Matic has delivered over 300,000 quotes to its customers and has become a market leader in the distribution of homeowner’s insurance.

“This is an exciting time for Matic, and the Columbus Region has the right blend of skilled talent, an entrepreneurial climate and a vibrant economy to support our rapid expansion,” said Aaron Schiff, co-founder and CEO of Matic. “With more than a dozen enterprise agreements set to launch this year, we are confident Columbus will continue to offer the resources needed to support our growth.”

Matic joins a rich financial environment in Ohio, including a number of Fortune 500 and 1000 financial companies such as Huntington, JPMorgan Chase, Progressive Insurance, Grange Insurance, 84.51° and Nationwide Mutual Insurance. This creates an attractive environment for fintech companies wanting to form relationships with these established companies.

Ohio’s fintech and insurtech environment is highly collaborative. Last year, Ohio hosted its first successful fintech accelerator that brought together fintech companies with these national, industry-leading financial institutions and insurance companies to share knowledge and catapult fintech forward.

“Matic’s expansion is an example of how the central Ohio’s abundance of major insurance providers is helping early-stage fintech companies experience rapid growth,” said Valentina Isakina, JobsOhio managing director for financial services. “The collaborative efforts of Matic, Columbus 2020 and the city will bring 50 new jobs to downtown Columbus and bolster Ohio’s robust fintech environment.”

Ohio has become a national hub for Insurtech companies—those transforming the insurance industry with innovative technology enhancements that unlock greater savings and efficiencies. JobsOhio is working hard to help this industry grow even bigger in the state.
