Company Profile: Dansons US LLC (parent company of Dansons Peebles LLC) was founded in 1999 by Dan Thiessen and his two sons with the desire to turn the waste of sawmills into a reliable source of energy. Through widespread success in Canada, the U.S.and internationally, the company eventually went on to expand its product line from horse and animal bedding, to pellet fuel for grills and pellet fuel appliances.

Company Need:

Demand for the BBQ industry continues to increase and Dansons needed to establish its first BBQ wood pelleting plant. Dansons will produce BBQ wood pellets under the Pit Boss and Louisiana Grills brands, and needed a location with abundant resources, talent and a strong advanced manufacturing industry.

Why Ohio?

Dansons is investing $6.2 million in a facility in Adams County that will immediately meet its raw material needs. The new operations will utilize the area’s advanced manufacturing strengths and abundant hardwood and thriving sawmill industry to turn hardwood waste products into a reliable source of fuel in the form of pellets for grills.

Ohio’s advanced manufacturing workforce is the third largest in the country and the state’s manufacturing industry is among the most prevalent industry’s in the state. The industry’s size alone gives manufacturers confidence that everything they need to prosper is in Ohio.

JobsOhio and OhioSE worked closely with Dansons on the project, which is being supported with a $75,000 JobsOhio grant. Local support comes from Adams County Economic Development and the Adams County OhioMeansJobsto assist with workforce needs.
