Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., a Cleveland-based major supplier of iron-ore pellets, broke ground on its first hot briquetted iron (HBI) production plant near the Port of Toledo. The company is investing $700 million in the facility, which will be the only one of its kind in the Great Lakes Region. The plant will create up to 1,200 construction jobs and 130 permanent jobs with an average salary and benefit package exceeding $100,000 a year.
