Ohio’s reputation as a leader in the healthcare industry continues to grow. The state has an impressive assortment of academic and research institutions, world-class health care providers and some of the nation’s corporate leaders in healthcare. Together, they’re coming up with innovative health care products and services that are saving, extending and improving the lives of people around the globe.
Aaron Pitts, senior managing director of healthcare at JobsOhio, had the opportunity to talk about Ohio’s strong and growing healthcare industry. In a guest column in the Oct. 13 edition of Crain’s Cleveland Business, Aaron describes some of the life-changing medical advances being developed by Ohio companies and explains why Ohio has become such an attractive location for healthcare companies.
“First, the cost of living and doing business in Ohio is significantly less than it is on the East and West coasts,” he writes. “Second, Ohio has a supportive healthcare community that genuinely encourages collaboration and partnerships among research organizations, academic institutions, medical centers and healthcare companies. Third, Ohio’s 200+ colleges and universities are filling the talent pipeline with well-educated, well-trained workers. And lastly, the Ohio Third Frontier Program has been a great economic tool, helping new and growing healthcare companies with pre-seed and venture capital funding.”
