On February 1, Nestlé USA furthered its commitment to Ohio with the relocation of 300 jobs from California to its Solon campus. The technical, production and supply chain roles add $41 million in new payroll and will join the existing 2,000 employees at the Northeast Ohio campus.

The move is part of Nestlé’s plan to position more of the company’s operations closer to its factories, 75 percent of which are in the eastern half of the United States.

In a written statement announcing the relocation, Nestlé USA Chairman and CEO Paul Grimwood explained that recent investments are due to a changing shift in how consumers eat, shop and engage with brands. “To address the ever-changing landscape, we’re striving to make our products healthier and tastier, using unmatched R&D capability, nutrition science and passion for quality in everything we do. The moves announced today are designed to allow us to work even smarter, fueling growth for our bright future, and we’re pleased to continue that growth and investment here in Ohio and in Solon.”

Aaron Pitts, senior managing director of JobsOhio, worked closely with Nestlé when executives approached him in 2016 with a competitive idea of growing the Solon location. “We’re thrilled that they’ve made yet another commitment to the Solon campus,” said Pitts. “They’re the epitome of a class organization with a commitment to offering the highest quality products. It really is a mantra that they live by.”

Within the last two years, working with JobsOhio and its network partners, the company has invested an additional $81 million in operations throughout the state, including the expansion of the Quality Assurance Center in Dublin, a state-of-the-art product testing and quality assurance lab, as well as a new R&D center in Solon.

Nestlé has deep roots in Ohio dating back to 1954 when the company entered the frozen food market with its iconic brand, Stouffers®. Ohio is home to operations for 12 Nestle USA brands, located in five cities throughout the state and employing more than 3,400 people.
