The largest single price-point retailer in North America will become the second largest employer in Morrow County when Dollar Tree’s new distribution center opens in Bennington Township in 2019.

Headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, Dollar Tree Inc. plans to invest more than $125 million in the 1.2-million-square-foot facility, which will create 400 jobs.

JobsOhio worked with Columbus 2020 and Morrow County to land Dollar Tree, which was attracted to the central Ohio site in part because of its strategic location and talented workforce. Positioned just off Interstate 71, the new center will allow Dollar Tree to efficiently distribute products to many of its 14,835 retail stores across North America.

“Dollar Tree is a large and growing organization,” said Gary Philbin, Dollar Tree president and CEO. “We currently operate more than 735 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores in the state of Ohio, and we are excited about our new distribution center project in Morrow County. This new facility will enhance our supply chain, provide convenient access to our network of stores and create hundreds of new jobs for residents of Morrow County and its surrounding counties.”

“Dollar Tree’s investment in a new fulfillment center in Bennington is yet another example of how e-commerce continues to grow in Ohio,” said Ted Griffith, JobsOhio managing director for logistics and distribution. “Retailers want to move closer to where most of their customers live, and Ohio fits the bill with three major metropolitans and several smaller metro areas.”

Construction will begin this summer, and the distribution center is expected to be operational in the summer of 2019.
