Company Need:

Hydro-Aire Inc. — a division of Crane Aerospace & Electronics — is located in Elyria in northeast Ohio. Its current facility is at capacity, and additional space is needed to increase production in order to fulfill new contracts.

The city of Elyria, Team NEO, Lorain County Economic Development and JobsOhio teamed up to offer Hydro-Aire decision-makers information and insights that facilitated the company’s decision to expand in northeast Ohio. Hydro-Aire then sought to purchase an adjacent property and build a new facility in order to grow its Lear-Romec fluid management product lines.

Why Ohio?

Hydro-Aire is investing over $8.5 million to construct a second building adjacent to its current Elyria location. The company values Ohio’s workforce quality and supportive partnerships that it finds in northeast Ohio.

Hydro-Aire has operated out of Elyria for more than 100 years and remained successful because of the advanced manufacturing and aerospace and aviation expertise in Ohio.

With nearly 700,000 workers, Ohio’s manufacturing workforce, known for its industriousness and ingenuity, is the third largest in the country. Ohio is also home to more than 38,000 aerospace and aviation private sector professionals. The state has proven expertise and productivity in an established aerospace and aviation supply chain, with key competencies including propulsion, landing and braking systems, advanced materials, fluid handling and motion control, unmanned aerial systems, as well as sensors and integrated aircraft systems.
