- Type of Project: New location
- Number of Jobs:
- Jobs committed: 100

Company Need:
The former USA Tealight is a candle manufacturer located in New Jersey. The company’s clients prefer to deal with a full-line candle supplier to reduce the number of vendors. As a result, USA Tealight made plans to expand into other candle types, and needed additional production capacity. This would in turn increase the potential for sales growth, and the company considered completely relocating operations.
Why Ohio?
As a result, USA Tealight decided to relocate to Ohio and operate as United Candle Company. The rebranded company will create 100 new jobs and invest more than $1.8 million in fixed assets such as new packaging equipment and building upgrades.
In Muskingum County, United Candle Company is buying equipment from and leasing the building of the former Lumi-Lite Candle Company, which closed in January 2019. The readily available location and equipment allows United Candle Company to expedite production, which is one reason the company decided to invest in Ohio. Moreover, the cost of doing business is significantly less in Ohio compared to the company’s previous northern New Jersey location, outside of Manhattan.
United Candle Company’s major customers include well-known brand name retailers, independent retailers and wholesalers, as well as a private label division that makes candles for other companies. With this acquisition and relocation, United Candle can expand its product line, meet the needs of existing customers and grow its sales.
